| Almost every musical sequence is just a version of this shot |
Portrait of Israeli singer Noga Erez as she prepares a new album and has deal with the fall out from the attacks in Gaza.
One of the good surprises of the Tribeca film festival. I had no idea what this film was and only went to see it because I had a slot to fill. I came out of the film pleased and delighted. This film is a great introduction to a great artist.
As good as the film is over all, the film has one flaw, almost all of the music sequences are visually uninteresting. Outside of images taken from other sources, they are all shot from behind. We never see Noga's face. We simply see her standing at the foot of the stage. It kills the momentum. This becomes clear as Noga's career takes off and we see her perform via streaming concerts or broadcast sources and the electricity shoots up.
This is a great film.
And I sense it's going to get lost. Those of us who saw the film really enjoyed it but it felt like no one else was talking about it. Do yourself a favor and put this on your list of films to track down and jump when it appears near you
