Badland Hunters (2024)

This is the sequel to Korea's Oscar entry CONCRETE UTOPIA? WTF?

Three years after an earthquake destroys Korea things are deduced to a post apocalyptic society. Don Lee is the head of  community in the desert. When a young people from his community are invited away, Lee discovers it's for a nefarious plan and heads off to rescue one girl in particular.

Incredibly messy action film makes zero sense. The problem with the film is the world makes no sense. Yea it looks cool but if you think about anything, an detail, it all falls apart, not the least of which is the fact that that the bad guy is a socially backward dweeb and psychopath who is trying to bring his daughter back to life. Why would anyone follow him? This may be the stupidest post apocalyptic world I've run across, or at least the least thought out (alligators in the desert?).

Honestly I really didn't care until the rescue mission started because it's only at that point does the film actually has a focus that makes sense. even as it falls into laughable cliche (zombies). At that point the action and motion over whelms the stupidity of the plot. Finally in the second half we get great action and nihilistic turns. It kept me watching as I kept waiting to see what violent thing was going to happen next.

I can't recommend this.
