GOOD BAD THINGS
Danny Kurtzman plays a man with muscular dystrophy who decides to try on-line dating. Matched up with a photographer named Madi he finds that he is pushed in directions outside of hiw comfort zone and possibly toward himself.
This is not your typical romance/character study. Forget the fact that Danny has muscular dystrophy, the course of the film isn't your typical Hollywood one. This is not going to go as you expect it and as a result you'll be delighted. Why? Because you're going to be spending time with people closer to the ones you know.
I was delighted.
As with every Slamdance Unstoppable film, this is just a good film you need to see.
LOOK AT ME
Taylor Olson writes, directs and stars in a fictional autobiographical film about a heavy actor with a poor sense of self. As he prepares to tell his story on camera, he relives his life and struggle with an eating disorder.
LOOK AT ME didn't work for me. Feeling much like a carefully constructed theater piece rather than a film or real life I never connected to the film. Olson wasn't talking to me about his life but preaching to me. I disconnected. Blame the fact that being a big guy like Olson, I live with some of the issues he raises.
While not bad, it just wasn't my cup of tea.
