FURRY DETECTIVES: UNMASKING THE MONSTER
They ran the first two episodes of the Netflix series about a group of people in the furry community who set out to find members of their community who were abusing an hurting animals before word got out to the world.
This is a deeply disturbing tale that is not for the faint of heart. It's a show that bleeps about and fuzzes images and words because there are limits one can not cross. It's an interesting story that is going to piss off all animal lovers.
I'm mixed on the show it self. I find the presentation kind of exploitive. The series milks the furry angle a little bit too much for its own good. I kept wanting to yell at the screen, enough we get it. Additionally there is something about the way the film manipulates the details of the crimes that kind of sits uncomfortably with me. It's clear the filmmakers are trying to keep the audiences interest. Frankly I don't need the pictures they are conjuring up in my brain.
Still it's an intriguing tale and it just might get me to tune into see how it ends.
ALL WE CAN NOT SEE
Two young women meet in bathroom and end up traveling together.
This is beautiful life with a great cast. I really liked this. At the same time I kind of wish it wasn't trying to be arty and flashy. Some of the drifting in and out the present to show us the inner thoughts seems more distracting than helpful. Still it's a solid little drama.
SIXTH BUROUGH
This is a look at the importance of Long Island in the history of Rap and Hip Hop. It's a film that shows how the people from the suburbs were just as important, if not more so, than those that came from the urban areas.
Solid.
PEOPLE AND MEAT
This is a lovely little comedy drama from Korea about three seniors with no one to take care of them who get together to eat good food and then run out on the check. As their reputstion growns so do the complications.
Forget the premise and just know that this film is great time with great people. I went into this film uncertain feeling, I came out loving it because I fell in love with everyone on screen. This is one of the great finds of Tribeca
