OUTRAGEOUS
This is a wonderful film about the Mitford sisters who lived a wild life in the 1920's and 30's (and beyond).
I stumbled upon this film and fell madly in love with it (emails were sent). I just was delighted by the cast and the sense of life in the film. I had thought about multi-tasking while watching it, but that idea ended right away. I was in for the long haul
I had a blast.
This is one of the great find of this year's Tribeca Fest.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Young Eygptian girl who works as the maid for the grandmother of her best friend has to contend with her friend's birthday.
This is a really good film. It's a solid drama about the relationship between young girls. The film also has a great deal to say about the relationship between rich and poor in Eygpt (and elsewhere)
Actually the way the film handles the relationship between rich and poor is something that has vexed me. I say this because the first hour is a solid tale wherein everything is perfectly balanced. The trouble arrives in the final half hour where the clash of rich and poor takes centerstage and it feels bumpy. The drive to make points overwhelms the narrative. It's always very good, but it's not the truly great of the first hour.

ANDY KAUFMAN IS ME
This is a collection of performaces and recordings that are woven together in order to tell the story of performer ANDY KAUFMAN.
I have been sitting on this review for a while. While the film is very good, something that I will be echoed by numerous friends who saw the film and are planning on reviewing it, I am having trouble finding the words to write the film up. The problem is that the film is very similar to the recently released doc THANK YOU VERY MUCH. For me the only difference is that this film is almost entirely told in Andy's words, where THANK YOU has talking heads to add context. I can't in all fairness break the two films apart.
My lack of words aside, if you want to hear Andy's story in his words, this film is for you.
