This is a look at Mary Anning a British girl who pushed the science of Paleontology farther than iot ever had before by finding large scale fossils in the cliffs of her home by the sea.
You will forgive me if I don’t have a great deal to say about the film. It’s not that the film is bad, but more that it is aimed at kids rather than adults. Running breezy 75 minutes the film doesn’t have a great deal of time to build characters. Yes, there are some plot turns via tragedy, but mostly its Mary trying to buck the societal restrictions of 1811 and find enough fossils to sell to keep her family home together. It’s fine for kids but adults may want more.
That said if you have a kid who loves dinosaurs and fossils, and what kid doesn’t love them, then this is a must see when it screens again at NYICFF
