In 1958 Paraguay, Narciso returns home with a stack of rock and roll records and a desire to share to gospel of rock. However the country is under military control.
I honestly don't know what to make of this film. After a film that begins with the end of the story (these fifteen minues are great), the film shifts back a year with the arrival of Narciso and at that point the film shifts focus. The film reveals itself to be not so much about Narciso but about a wider cast of characters around him and how they deal with the oppression. this is a film more about the time then then the man.
I think the problem is that the film requires you have some knowledge of the time in Paraguay. I don't know what the country was like at the time and I had a sense that had I known what the countrywas like I would have liked the film more.
On a technical level this film is gangbusters. The performances are wonderful. I just don't know if the narrative works.
