In the tradition of X THE UN KNOWN, THE BLOB, The Raft section of CREEPSHOW 2, and STREET TRASH comes THE SWALLOW about a killer ooze that devours anyone who comes in contact with it.
The plot is simple, five friends go into the woods and decide to camp in a fenced off area just because. One of them goes into a "pond" and promptly is attacked by the ooze which won't let you go. As her friends try to free her they become victims as well.
While the film is entertaining on its own terms, the film is never going to be considered a great film. Sure the effects are great with the ooze being scary because there is the right amount of mystery around it, but the lack of information extends to the characters who exist simply to be offered up to the slime gods. There is no one to root for because we are not given people, just lambs for the slaughter.
I liked the film, but at the same time I hate myself for doing so since it's purely for the cool monster.
