Okay coming of age film folows a 15 year old girl who experiences a tragedy and then has her life go into free fall.
This is a well made and well acted film that doesn't do anything unexpected. I went into the film kind of blind and a couple of minutes I had a sense of where this was going to go and what it was going to do. Unfortunately outside of allowing everyone not to be instantly over their grief, this film largely follows the expected path. There is nothing wrong with that but seeing this in the middle of a festival you can't help but wonder if I should have wandered into another theater
I don't want that to sound bad, lord knows this isn't a bad film, the problem is that in the middle of a festival seeing a film like this means it's going to get lost. Truthfully I know I'm going to have to revisit this down the road and see it for itself and not one of many at a festival.
If you want to see a low key coming of age drama give this film a try.
