Dragonfly (2025) Tribeca 2025

Andrea Riseborough agrees to take care of her elderly neighbor Brenda Blethyn. What begins as lovely conversations over tea, turns complicated.

The reasons to see this film are the performances Riseborough and Blethyn shine as the two the center. The two women are so good that they disappear into their roles and will make you forget that they are anything other than the characters on the screen.  I love that they are wonderfully real and not overly showy.

As good as the women are, I wish that the script was slightly better. I wish the film didn't foreshadow some of the darkness at the start. It's not that there is anything wrong with what happens, I just wish the film didn't signal something was going to happen.

Quibble aside this is a good film and first rate acting showcase and is worth your time.
