Dwayne Johnson proves he can do more than be an action star in the true story of MMA fighter Mark Kerr. The film is based on a documentary profile from 20 years ago about Ker's rise and fall and problem with prescription drugs.
Yes Johnson is great as Kerr, but beyond that the film never answers the important question of "why are you telling me this?" The film doesn't seem to know since the film is almost an anti sports film with the focus being on the people and the fights simply a means to enhance Kerr's story. The result is this is basically an every person story about a guy who beats people up.
I hate to say this, but I'm not surprised that the film didn't do well at the box office since the film doesn't have a reason to exist. It's no bad, but when it ends you'll want to watch something that's actually exciting.
