Catch-up Capsules: EDEN and JURASSIC WORLD: REBIRTH

EDEN
Atypical Ron Howard film tells of what happened on the island of Floreana, in the Gallapogos when several groups of people decended on the island either to restart society or to build a hotel to bring it in. The film is based on a true story but isn't the entire tale with events manipulated for this telling.

This is a violent and erotic telling of madness in the tropics. This is a historical pot boiler with all sorts of misdeeds leading to terrible consequences. Great looking and well acted, I never really connected to the film. The issue being I was never quite certain why I was being told this story. Yes, it's a sorid true crime story that will get the people in (well that's what they thought), but there never feels like a connection to us here and now. I lost interest early and ended up walking in and out as it streamed on whichever service I streamed it on.

JURASSIC WORLD REBIRTH
Gareth Edwards makes a film that has me scratching my head. This is a by the numbers Hollywood film by a man who doesn't do by the numbers. The plot has something to do with needing to go to dinosaur island to get dino blood for science. Along the way the rescue a family at sea. Of course it all goes wrong.

I just hate this film. From the rote plot, to the Brooklyn opening that has a traffic jam  on what are actually dead end or little traveled roads, to bent science, and a big bad new dinosaur that references the xenomorph of the alien franchise, this movie is crappy.

I never want to see visit this franchise again- even the first three, which I like.
