This is the story of the shooting of Ajike Owens, who was shot by her neighbor through a closed door when Owens went to confront the neighbor about her continued behavior.
This film will break your heart. A protrait of a neighborhood in turmoil thanks to one woman who didn't like anyone and tormented everyone. She could never understand that the kids around her could play in the street and the property next to hers and that her constant calls to the cops to get the kids off her neighbor's lawn was causing issues and turning everyone against her.
Because almost the whole film is police footage there is no editorializing, there is just video of what happened. It's a damning indictment of what happened. It will break your heart.
The film covers the march to the shooting and the aftermath. We see it all because the cops were there.
While this gives us a clear picture of how events played out, there is nothing outside of that, so if you want a greater context, or biographical details for anyone involved, you will have to look elsewhere.
I was moved.
This is a great film. Recommended.
