This is a look at the operation by the Mossad to take out the leaders of Hezbollah. The plan was a long game one that required patience and years of planning as Hezbollah was convinced to used pagers with hidden bombs as a way of sending messages that no one could intercept. The result was an attack that rattled the Hezbollah and was hailed as a brilliant stroke by those in the espionage field.
To be completely up front I am not now, nor have I ever truly been particularly happy with what the Israeli government is up to with their treatment of the Palestinians. In all honesty I am so angry at them that I was considering not looking at this film. (And had I known how much Benjamin Natanyahu was in the film I would have declined covering it) However I was curious to know how the operation was handled.
One part history of Mossad, one part explanation of the operation and one part victory lap about the success of the operation, this film is everything you wanted to know about what happened and more. While very much slanted to be the aforementioned victory lap the film does nicely lay out how it all went down.
On the other hand the film's rah rah attitude and celebration of the death of 42 and the severe wounding of 4,000 more comes off at best awkward, and at worst tone deaf, when you consider all the stories of the Palestinian genocide and the leveling of Gaza, and the fact that pagers didn't just hurt bad guys.
There is no denying its a hell of a story but this is the wrong time and the wrong way to tell this story .
