Put this film on your must see list. This is an unexpected delight that you are going to want to watch over and over again (and hope they can continue with the abandoned TV series)
The film is the story of ex-con Hick. He';s just gotten out of prison and he's looking for work and a way to get to his daughter's house for her 10th birthday. Hope comes in the form of Vince who promises him quick money if they can get a certain car and deliver it to some gangsters. Complications arise when the car goes missing.
A film made with love by everyone involved, it's produced by the stars, who have been attached with the project through a short, a failed TV show and other versions. Its a film where everyone on every level is full engaged and the love bleeds off the screen.
I loved this. I sat in my seat with a stupid smile on my face. I was delighted at the humor and sense of life. More importantly I loved that I really didn't have any clue were this is going. Okay, I knew where it physically would end up, but I didn't know about how it would go or what would happened when it got there.
This is the sort of buddy film that Hollywood used to do really well, before they made things overly slick. This bumpy and clunky, like life. People don't always say pithy things and things don't always go right and as a result it feels more real.
What an absolute delight.
