Tie Die (2024) Popcorn Frights 2025

Something is killing people in the woods, and it isn't a rabid bear....

Lloyd Kaufmann and Joe Bob Briggs star as local law enforcement trying to get to the bottom of a series of grizzly murders. Their casting is one of the bright spots in this uneven horror comedy.

The problem with this film is that the tone is all over the place.  Yes, it has some horror and yes it has some laughs but the film doesn't know what it wants to be. It wants to be both and the result is it kind of is neither.  At the same time there is some really good things here, Kaufmann actually turns in a performance, the effects are very good and there are some laughs, but at the same time the fact that the filmmakers decided to make a serious horror comedy hurts it. I wonder how this would have been as a straight horror film or one of Troma's so bad its good films.

While not terrible, it is very disappointing. Worth a look for effects fans... and fans of Kaufman and Briggs.
