A brother and sister who steal any metal they can find (including statues and manhole covers) to sell for scrap end up on the run when a night of scavenging goes wrong and the young man is severely injured. Unable to pay for medical care or their debts things take a dark turn when someone dies. Eventually making their way to the home of a rich blind woman things seem to be shifting their way....
This is a darkly comedic drama where the people are not always likeable, and trouble is never far away. Even so it's a film that is hard to warm to because of its prickliness and because there is such a darkness to it all. While I began to warm to everyone, I still remained distant because the tone of this film is dark enough, I knew there couldn't be joy without a heavy cost. I just wish it wasn't so stacked against everyone.
Well-made and well-acted the film should end up winning a lot of awards as it moves out into the world.
While not for my tastes it is the sort of film that festivals love so I expect this to have a long life.
Recommended for those who like walks on the bleak side.
