Airport Blvd. (2026) Tribeca 2026

A young man returns to Austin Texas and tries to connect with a young woman and reconnect with the life he had left behind.

This is a great looking film with images you'll want to hang on your wall. Occasionally they are put together in a nice montage.

Every year several of the Tribeca write ups seem to have come from an unrelated film. This year AIRPORT BLVD was listed as a jazz infused film, and there is jazz but not enough to have this considered a musical. So much of the film is dialog or silence.

I honestly don't know what to think about this film. Shot in glorious black and white, much of the film is shot so that we don't see the faces of the people on screen. People talk but we rarely see their faces. It all seems as though the dialog was added after the fact. I had zero connection to the people on the screen because I couldn't see their faces. Honestly this is close to being a radio drama.

It soesn't help that much of the dialog isn't real conversation but discussions that are supposed to be about something deep and meaningful. while it results in some quotable dialog it also keeps us distance as the film feels even more unreal.

A miss
