A boatload of tourists in the bayou of Louisiana are hunted by a hippopotamus.
I know hippos don't live in the wild in the US but this film there was talk of hippos being brought here because of a shortage of cattle, just go with it.
Actually, just go with it is the best advice I can give about this film. Well-made and well-acted, everyone sells their roles, HUNGRY is a very by the numbers film that entertains. If you've seen the trailer, you know exactly what this film is.
Forget high art, this is simply solid storytelling that plays to the audience in all the best ways. Yes, you know pretty much everyone is gonna die, and you know who the survivor is gonna be, but at the same time you are invested in everyone else on screen... even if you are waiting to see how exactly they are going to die.
I had a good time.
Do I want a sequel? Not really. I know one is set up if they want to do one, but outside of cash why do it? This film is pushing the bounds of believability as is.
Highly recommended for those who love mindless, but very well done action/horror films.
