A family is on the run, hoping to cross the border.
This is a super little drama that speaks volumes in its brief time. It’s a finely crafted thriller that is beautifully paced. While those who know their history will have an idea about who the characters are, the film never tells us too much. As things go, we are just given a family to follow and we do. Peaking volumes about the need to find safety and a settled life in the aftermath of the Second World War the film shows that the past is never far away and that even good people may have pasts that will cost them.
Perfectly contained, there is no need for a sequel or expansion, this is the best sort of short film, one that stands on its own two feet and show cases the work of filmmakers who care about what’s best- telling a compelling story rather than showing off.
This was the first film I saw for the 2026 Tribeca Film Festival, and I am guessing it will be one of the best.
