Brief thoughts on Hot Milk (2025)

A young woman who has shut her life down in order to take care of her mother, finds that he life is opening up when she meets another woman while in Greece for her mother's treatment.

This is a moody film carried by the actresses at the center, Emma Mackey, Vicki Krieps and Fiona Shaw. The three woman lift this film up from its soapy plotline and makes it very real. They are the reason I kept watching the film.

To be honest I'm not entirely sure what I feel about the film. The point where things got messy was the very end.  After a very low key and largely slow burn drama the ending made me sit bolt up right and wonder where that came from. Actually I do know where it came from emotionally, but at the same time there is something about it that makes it feel like it was out of left field.  It's something that struck me as  out of place cinematically- to the point that my whole focus regarding the film was the final minutes. I can't discuss the film because I am hung up on the end.

Is the film bad? No, its a moody slow burn drama and if you like that see this film.
