DOC NYC 2025 Feature Capsules: HEIGHTENED SCRUTINY, PRETTY DIRTY, THE KEEPER, SIX BILLION DOLLAR MAN

After so many films at DOC NYC I have begun to run out of steam and I am forced to write capsiules for some of the titles

HEIGHTENED SCRUTINY
Oscar hopeful film follows Chase Stangio as he battles  in favor of the gender affirming care that states want to end. This is a solid look at trans rights and the insane arguments that the far right are using to control the lives of trans people.  This is a no hold bar look at the way the right wants to control the lives of everyone by getting a foothold  via battle most people don't understand.
A must see.

PRETTY DIRTY: THE LIFE AND TIMES OF MARILYN MINTER
A very good look at the work of artist Marilyn Minter.  It's a wonderfulm celebration of the artist, that may not do anything unexpected, absolutely delights by having the same wonderful view of life as its subject.

THE KEEPER
Portrait of John Lipscomb, a river keeper on the Hudson. He has been patroling the river for almost 3 decades making sure the river remains safe. This is a great little portrait of the man, his boat and the river they patrol. See it big if you can because the images are spectacular and make you realize what he is fighting for.

SIX BILLION DOLLAR MAN
The life and confind ment of Wiki-leaks founder Julian Assange, who was forced to seek refuge in an Embassy in London after spurious rape charges were filed against him. This is a film that will tell you everything you want to know about Assange and the state of the truth in the world today.
