Neda Naji recounts her time in the infamous Evin prison, particularly during the massive fire that tore through a section of the facility.
This is a great little film. It’s a film that explains what
a messed-up place that Iran because of how it treats women and their prisoners.
To be honest while the film is focused on the period around the fire there is
enough here that will make you wish that the film was a feature that covered
more. I say this as someone who has seen a large number of films, both docs and
features, about the prisons of Iran and this film is one of the rare ones that
breaks down the barriers between the subject and the audience. We feel what the
people on the screen are experiencing it emotionally as opposed to
intellectually.
This is a solid film and is recommended.
