Hoa Thi Le and Hue Nguyen Chen fled Vietnam at the end of the war. Ending up in the Phillipines they found them selves recruited as extras in APOCALYPSE NOW. Mixing images from the film as well as their home movies and stories we see Vietnam and the Vietnamese as they really are and not how American movie portrayed them.
I initially wasn't engaged with this film. I wasn't sure where it was going, however there was this point where the threads came together and I connected.the people who once were used as scenery stepped out front and center. The notion of background people disappeared and you realized that what you thought you knew was wrong.
This is a super little film.
