The pregnant Sara and her lover agree to go to go to the home of her ex-boyfriend to have dinner with him and his mother. Bad things happen.
On the basis of the Volume 1 in the title, this film hopes to be the start of a series. As it stands now I would be curious as to where the series might go.
Full disclosure, I am reasonably certain that I saw an earlier version of this film a while back. I say that because when it started my first thought was that "this is the film where..." and then I charted every single thing that happened. I'm not certain as to why I didn't review it then because the film is a solid good film. I think knowing that the film may go somewhere helps. I think that knowing there maybe more makes the ending work.
I think it helps to know also that while there is blood and violence, there is also a fair share of drama. This is not a film about the blood and violence, but about the characters. Yes bloody things happen, but the blood and gore is for a reason.
This is definitely worth a look if for no other reason that if enough of us see it we will get to see what Huston Bone does next.
