I'm not going to review GODHEAD... at least for now.
I need to see it again, away from a festival crush and with a different mind set. I say that knowing that I was watching it with no way of rewatching it in the time I had to get a timely review. I also know that I couldn't shake it.
The plot has a priest, who is raising boy left on the church steps, being asked to find out which of two white clad people is the holy spirit. What follows is an off kilter and very heady discussion of some heavy subjects. Shot in a goregeous black and white, you'll want to hang every shot on your walls. There is much to love here.
At the same time the presentation didn't always work. Some of the off kilterness kept me distant, as did Sarah Coffey's performance which seemed out of place. I need to see the film again so I can take it on its own terms.
While not for all audiences, GOIDHEAD is a must for those who want off Hollywood cinema.
