I saw Colony tonight at NYAFF and I was not a fan.
The audience loved it. I thought it was Yeon Sang-ho's least film with every turn foreshadaowing everything that will happen later, other turns that make no sense and a feeling that the real director was someone else trying to copy him.
Its not bad, there are some killer sequences, but its the work of some one with less talent than Sang-ho.
As much as I want to post what looks like it is going to be a long piece looking at the problems, I'm going to hold off since no one has seen it in the US. For now read everyone's reactions and make up your own mind.
Look for my ffull thoughts when the film is released later in the summer.
