The course of a relation ship from 22 to 27 as two people named Sato meet, fall in love, have a child and divorce.
This film kicked my ass for reasons outside of the film. Echoing a relationship with an ex of mine this film kicked up a great many emotions expressed and unexpressed. It made me feel things I did not want to. I am saying this up front because on certain level my feelings for the film objectivey are compromised.
On the other hand his film is a great film on it's own terms. Its a beautifully acted film that perfectly uses a fragmented/time jumping style in order get maximum emotional response from the audience. If the film was straight forward it would not have worked as well. The fact that the film can move through time and mash the echoes is what gives this film its power.
My unobjective feelings or not this is one of the best films at Japan Cuts this year and an absolute must see when it plays this weekend.
