A young man’s plans are gone when his father unexpectedly dies leaving him with no means of paying for school. Taking a job with some sketchy characters he finds himself working with some people who kill and remove bodies. Things take a turn for the worst when out in the forest a homicidal bear begins to hunt them.
One of my must see films at NYAFF became one of its biggest disappointments as what I thought was going to be a tense horror film became a not so tense horror tinged comedy. Playing everything for a laugh this film kind of just never came together. Yes I know it wants to make points about the things we do to get by but at the same time this is not what I expected from the director of the soul crushing films FORGIVEN CHILDREN and LIVERLEAF. While not bad, it isn’t up to the directors earlier work. Think of it as how you would feel if William Friedkin made a Sharknado film.
It might have worked but the bear looks so god damn silly
A miss
