A mega hit in Vietnam, MR HERO didn't work for me.
The film is the story of a taxi cab driver who needs money badly. His daughter is sick and without a transplant she is going to die. In desperation he stages a fake rescue, hoping to get money from people on the internet. But the lies complicate everything.
A mix of social commentary (it's a brutal commentary on the health care system & the internet), comedy, soap opera and feel good family films, the film is tonally all over the place. What am I supposed to feel? I'm not sure. Its not that there is problem mixing tones when they are blended correctly. The problem here is its not always blended and I frequently felt out of sorts.
Worth a look if you're curious, but it didn't work for me.
