This was not what I expected. This is a sweet little film that is not what you think it is. A serious comedy about a woman who decides to get out of the routine by taking a pole dancing class. In it she finds a part of herself she thought she lost.
There is no doubt this hits a lot of the expected notes but at the same time the film keeps the tone exactly right. Neither overtly silly nor deeply serious this is just a film about a woman trying to find her better self.
I was delighted.
To be honest this was not on my list of films to see for NYAFF, but since I was given access to it I figured I try it for a few minute. As the end credits started to roll I realized that I had lost track of time.
I love finding unexpected gems.
