Brief thoughts on Memories of a Forest (2026) Toronto 2026

A young woman who is working on her doctoral thesis returns home for her grandmother funeral to find that she is the sole heir of a valuable section of forest.  She has to decide what she wants to do, return to school, sell the wood or the land, and how to deal with an infestation of a beetle that could wipe out the trees.

I don't have a great deal to say about this film. Well-made and well-acted it doesn't break any new ground. Early on I stepped back when I realized that I had seen similar films over the years. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it while it was on, but when it was done, I was ready to move on to another film because it didn't stick with me.
