A woman adrift in life and dealing with the impending death of her mom, ends up drifting in with a gang of thieves who steal religious artifacts.
In many ways this is one of the best films I've seen this year. Full of a typical characters and unexpected turns, the film is wonderfully alive. The film is less a narrative and more a a character study and on that level it is fantastic.
The problem for me is I'm not certain what this film is trying to say. Yes, its a great portrait of a woman and family, and I'm certain that if that was all the film was getting at I would have liked this more. The trouble is that the film feels like it is trying to say something more. Its a film that wants to be more than a slice of life and as a result I'm not certain it achieves that.
On the other hand what is here is choice and definitely worth a look.
