salvation (2026) Toronto 2026

A young man tries to make his way as a life coach but finds the fact that his own life is imploding makes it difficult for him to help anyone else.

Well-made drama entertained me when it was on, but it never fully clicked for me. A large part of this is the fact that this is not my favorite type of film. I dislike films that are about someone’s life imploding and them unable to get out from under it. I understand that the way life goes, but I don’t like to know at the start that things are going to go badly until the credits roll.

At the same time the film suffers in that the plotting doesn’t do anything unexpected. I shouldn’t know how this is going to go.

My issues aside, the film has a first-rate cast and is damn near perfectly told.

Recommended if you like down beat films
