I kind of feel I need to say that I loved the ending of the GIRL IN THE NIGHT at the start. I say that because for the most part this isn't my type of film and I hung around to the end and was rewarded with a nice smile.
The film has a young man who works at an all night gas station becoming facinated by a girl who comes in. She looks beaten up and insists she's fine. She is just fighting crime (she claims she has superpowers). Wanting to see her again he steals her bicycle.
This is an incredibly dry comedy where no one shows any real emotion. Think Napoleon Dynamite but even more low key. Its a film of long takes and people standing and not emoting. You either get into the head space or you don't.
Honestly this is way too low key and dry for me. I tire of this sort of presentation after a relatively short period of time and it was a battle for me to hang tight to get to the end.(Which I loved)
As much as I hate the presentation, I liked the premise and the story. This is a super tale about lovely people. The story is very much my jam and I would love a remake with people behaving like people and not like brutalist pieces of furniture.
If you like dead deadpan humor and superhero tales, give this film a shot.
