David Roberts brings his latest film to Telluride 2026 and kicks ass. This is a deeply affecting film that moved me.
The film is a collection of film clips from various prison films cut together to the music of Philip Glass. Its a look at the cinematic prison experience and the efforts to escape.
This is a glorious cinematic tone poem. Its a film that doesn't tell a story as such, rather it simply creates a headspace. Its a headspace that foreces us to consider what prison truly is. I was rocked. It forced me to truly rethink what I thought.
I loved this film. I loved it so much I watched it a couple of times.
This is a great filmmaking from a great filmmaker...and its even better than last year's SONG OF MY CITY which played TCM
