Working in Protest (2017) Brooklyn Film Festival 2018

Working in Protest is a collection of documentaries and clips that Rumur has put together over the last 30 years charting the course of social protests. Filmed in a verite style, the clips put us into the various protests…

.. or is it one continuous protest? I ask this because as you watch the film you get a sense that not a whole lot has changed. People are still unhappy regarding social inequality and bigotry. If you didn’t look closely at the details you’d kind of think the fight had never ended. Watching the film I felt kind of sad as result because so little seems to have changed.

This is quietly important documentary charting the good fight. If it really doesn’t emotionally peak and valley it’s okay simply because the weight of what we are seeing takes it’s toll.

Recommended for anyone interested in the history of social protest in America.

The film plays June 3 and 4 at the Brooklyn Film Festival. For tickets and more information go here
