Ariela on JELLYFISH (2018) Tribeca 2018

Jellyfish is a movie about 15 year old Sarah. She has to take care of her two younger siblings because her mom is bipolar and a complete mess, often times not even being able to get out of bed. People at school don’t like her and she works at an arcade with a boss who wants her to work there full time. Sarah’s drama teacher thinks she would be good at stand up, and she starts writing jokes in her notebook.

This film is very heavy. If you’re looking for a feel good movie, this isn’t it. It was depressing and you never feel a sense of hope. When you think that things can’t get worse for Sarah, they do.

I agree with Steve that Liv Hill deserves awards for her performance. I would recommend it but just remember it’s very heavy.
