ACHOURA (2021)

Childhood friends reconnect after 25 years including one that went missing all those years ago. This sets them on the course of having to confront a great evil that they fought all those years before.

Set on the north coast of Africa, ACHOURA rises above seeming to be a riff on other films to become something else. A beautifully constructed film that bounces through time, it concentrates firmly on the characters. Yes it’s scary but its scary because we worry about the characters and not because terrible things are a foot.  The result is a film where you remember the people and not the monster. That may not sound like something dumb, but the reality is it is something special.

This is a wonderful gem of a film. Its perfect for anyone who is sick to death of horror thrillers that are all the same.

Recommended.
