Quick notes: This weeks festivals and the Oscars

A couple of quick notes:

This week Hot Docs continues, as does New Directors New Films. More reviews will drop during the week

TCM Fest playin on TCM and HBO MAX starts Thursday and runs through the weekend. I will be posting reviews of some of the short docs, PLAN 9 Table Read and the new Bill Morrison. There maybe more reviews coming, I want to try the Chantel Akerman material, but I'm not sure I will have the time,

The Milwaukee Film Festival starts Thursday. It's killer. Because of life We are being limited to just pointing up links to the 33 features we've previously reviewed.  There are some great films playing and it's all virtual. Details soon.

RE: The Oscars

Years ago I said Tyler Perry would win an Oscar, I never expected it for his humanitarian work.

I was delighted.

As for the rest, I have no idea. I watched  a good chunk of this years awards because I was in a hotel room with poor choices. (I bounced between it and a Roddy Piper doc)Few of my personal choices won.

It was, as someone else said, like a well attended party that no one wanted to attend.

It had moments and little else.

Maybe next year will be better- hopefully they won't jumble it.
