Momster (2019) Tribeca 2019

Carhop Angel (Brianna Hildebrand) works more or less as an indentured slave to the owner of the dive. She is being kept "safe" because Angel's mom is a notorious on the run bank robber called Momster (Amanda Plummer). When things escalate and gun shots are fired, Angel thinks she's being rescued but things are not as they seem.

Glorious short film is a sheer delight. A wonderful spin on familiar tale the film shines thanks to Drew Denny's kick ass script and direction working with the killer cast. This is just a wonderful story that surprises at every turn. Denny isn't playing by the typical rules and as a result we have something that makes you go wow and applaud when it's done...

..actually one of the coolest things it does is it makes you want to see what happens next. You want to know because you like the characters you need to know where they ultimately end up. At the same time we don't need to know. Denny leaves us at exactly the right point and we don't need to know more. More importantly there is the feeling that if this was ever extended the feature probably wouldn't match this wonderfully sweet confection.

Highly recommended.
