This is a look at chronic Lyme Disease. The story comes to light when a chronically ill young woman discovered that that the insurance companies and some medical professionals insist that the protocols that were put in place 50 years ago are still the be all and end all concerning Lyme Disease. These protocols say that a regimen of medicine will clear it all up. The trouble is the science says something else.
To be honest I was kind of shocked that there was any sort of discussion about chronic Lyme Disease. Living on Long Island we were always warned about the dangers of Lyme Disease and the the chronic nature of the disease. Indeed anyone almost everyone I know who has gotten it was laid low for months/years by the disease. I guess some people never got the memo.
Outside of my disbelief that anyone could question the chronic nature of the disease, I really liked this film. It tells you everything that you need to know about disease, as well the problems with the insurance companies who will take bad science over good if it means helping someone.
Worth a look.
