MIMARGOGLU: ROBINSON OF MANHATTAN ISLAND
Portrait of Turkish electronic music pioneer Ilhan Mimaroglu and his wife consisting almost entirely material created by the couple. It’s a trippy film that will open your ears to Mimaroglu’s work. I’m not certain how this will play for many people, it’s kind of Avant Garde, but for those are open to it it’s a pretty cool trip.
FOREST FOR THE TREES
A look at photographer Rita Liestner and her current subject, a group of professional tree planters currently repopulating a forest.
This is a great looking film full of stunning images, some shot by Liestner and some by the camera crew of people working to keep the planet green. However as great as the film looks, my interest kind of waned after a while simply because the images overwhelm everything else. Yes I liked everyone on screen but I loved the images more.
