Bad Axe (2022) SXSW 2022

Bad Axe is the story of a Cambodian family and their restaurant in Bad Axe Michigan over the last few years. As the far right and covid seemingly gives small minded people the right to be abusive and racist, the family struggles to stay together and to keep their business open.

You will forgive me if I don’t say a great deal about Bad Axe, but its just better that you just see the film. A portrait of our times this film says a great deal about American and the good and bad people who live there. It’s a tale about a family who came to America to be free fighting and finding they are still having to fight.  It is also a wonderful portrait of a family coming together. Despite the bad things that happen this is good time with good people.

I really like this film a great deal and despite my lack of words you just need to see this film.

One of my favorite films at SXSW.
